My Norwex Experience

Some people get into buying office supplies or organization items. Some people always have to try the newest face cream or makeup line. I was somewhat like that about cleaners. If I let myself wander down the cleaning aisle at the store, I would inevitably buy something that looked nicer or appeared to be easier to use or more effective. This doesn't mean that I loved to clean. I didn't! And the worst was cleaning floors. Second to it was cleaning the shower or bath tub.

Then I was introduced to Norwex. Since using Norwex, I don't feel that way at all. I have realized now just WHY I disliked cleaning. First, I always felt like I was just pushing dirt around. This was most true when it came to cleaning counter tops and floors. No matter how many times I mopped, it seemed the floor was still dirty. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when my husband bought me a steam mop. I still love it but even the steamer started pushing the dirt around while it sanitized the floor, instead of picking it up. I found myself wanting to mop and then steam clean. Though I didn't realize at the time, part of the reason I did not enjoy cleaning must have been from the chemicals.  After using Norwex, I still had cleaners that I felt I should "use up" so they wouldn't be wasted.  Well, I once again got the cring-y feelings and dislike oozing from my skin.  Guess it wasn't the elbow grease I disliked after all - it was the cleaners!

I fell so in love with Norwex because it has simplified my cleaning process. I don't shudder the idea of cleaning or avoid it. I welcome it!  I know it sounds so odd but it is completely true. I started raving about it to anyone who would listen and that is when I decided I had probably better start selling this on my own since I'm trying to convert every soul I know to using these products. Why? Because I know it works and I believe in the company.

I didn't start using the products because I think chemicals are bad and destroying the environment or anything. I started using it because I want something that WORKS and that keeps me and my house sanitary but requires fairly little effort on my part. ;-)

It has shortened my cleaning time substantially - so much so that I have more time to do the nitty gritty - like dusting baseboards and ceiling fans, cleaning windows inside and out, etc.  We lived in a 3 bedroom 2000 square foot home and it would take me all day if I wanted to clean everything.  Now we live in a 5 bedroom 3600 square foot home and I can easily do it all plus some deep cleaning in 3 or 4 hours.  I'm not exaggerating either.

So that being said, the next posts will be some demonstrations and information regarding the Norwex company and products. Feel free to browse, skip, read and watch.  Contact me with any questions or concerns. And please share any successes you have found using the products as well!  I would love to post them for all to see.

(FYI: Because I am new to selling, I do not have videos yet of myself doing the demonstrations. As I get them I will replace the demos of other consultants as appropriate.)

The Norwex Company

You can research a lot about Norwex but I will list the very basics here.

*The Norwegian operation opened in 1994 as "Cleaning without Chemicals.
*Norwex stands for "The Norwegian Experience"
*The company has over 30,000 consultants worldwide
* Norwex expanded into USA in 2011

-Be sensitive to all moral issues
-Act ethically.

These were important to me. Perhaps they are for you too.

Norwex Microfiber

Okay, so you can get microfiber cleaning products everywhere now, so why would it matter to buy a Norwex cloth?  Truly I bought only two cloths to try out this so called "cleaning wonder".  I used my enviro cloth and the polish cloth so much I couldn't wait to get more.  I had never used a microfiber with such stamina, such power to pick up everything and still not STINK!  Not smell you say?  Yes.  Let's get into the nitty gritty.  The microfiber is cut more times than the usual cloths in the stores and there is silver - a natural anti-bacterial agent - sewn into the fibers. Here is the science, but really, if you get the chance...call me to come FEEL them. They will start exfoliating your hands while at the same time being so soft.  I fell in love at once.  Another bonus:  they absorb instantly. I have tried other cloths that basically repel water. Isn't that the opposite of what they are supposed to do?

The First Product You Should Try

The Enviro Cloth is a far superior cleaning agent than any chemical spray or "rag" I have every used.  I can clean my bathroom with it to remove all soap scum without any cleaners.  I can wipe up raw chicken or egg and not worry about salmonella poisoning. How you say?  The fibers pick up the liquid and hold it inside. There is no trace of it left on the surface and you can continue wiping your counter tops without worry of cross contamination since it does not hold it on the surface.  Here is a demonstration showing this face.  This is the demonstration that sold me on trying the product.  Best decision I ever made.  Thank you to my sister-in-law Beverly for introducing me to this magical cloth!

If you would like to see a demo in person, I would love to host a party for you. Then you can do the test yourself too if you don't believe others cleaning skills are up to par. Truth be told, I can get the surface clean with a paper towel and a cleaner, but it takes more work and sometimes it doesn't get it all. So which one would you pick?

So what about the cost of the cloth? Well, I haven't bought paper towels in over 9 months. I think I have used them twice - well, really my husband did. I haven't purchased bathroom cleaners, window cleaners or all-purpose cleaners either. I never intend to again either. The towel has more than paid for itself and it has a 2 year guarantee. Even if it didn't though, the simplicity of using it, the ease with which it picks up everything, less trash and no smell makes it worth it to me. Want to try one? Email me and I can get you started on a new outlook on clean!

This video shows how the protein cannot be detected on the cloth either.  It is inside the cloth for sure though. I will change this video soon with my own which will show how deep in the cloth turns purple but I can't get the strip to turn purple when I touch it to the cloth.  The particles will not transfer to other surfaces.

NOTE: I received many questions regarding the Enviro Cloth's ability to remove all the bacteria from the surface, not just the protein. Norwex has independent lab results testing for E. Coli and S. Aureus. The results found 99% of bacteria removed from the surface. So it is equivalent to spraying your counter with clorox...letting it sit 5 minutes and then wiping. If you read the instructions on all-purpose cleaners and clorox, you have to let it sit in order for it to kill the bacteria. Most people don't do that. And you certainly don't need to scrub with a lot of pressure over and over again to kill bacteria with the Norwex cloth either.

Another side note, it is possible to pick up so much bacteria that the silver cannot kill it all in sufficient time before you use it again. This is definitely when you need to launder the cloth and why rinsing the cloth well after use will enable the silver to work much more effectively.

The Second Must Have Cloth

I actually enjoy cleaning mirrors. Something about getting everything off and seeing a perfect reflection delights me. I had a great cleaner and never found a problem using paper towels. Though I still remember when my dad would bring home reams of computer paper home in the 80's...that stuff was GOLD for cleaning mirrors...but now there is platinum - the Polish cloth.

I couldn't just tell you to get the Enviro cloth and nothing else. We live in a world where we like SHINE and hate water spots, streaks or linty windows. This cloth can fix all of that. Use it on anything you want to sparkle and shine.

I have young children and lots of windows in reach. We have sticky fingerprints everywhere. I simply grab the enviro cloth off the kitchen sink and wipe the fingerprints. It dries to a streak free but if I am in a hurry I also use the polish cloth. Also, what I have found is that the window or glass or stainless steel seems to RESIST dirt more when I use the polish cloth as well. So to get the perfect shiny mirror or window I will follow up with the polish cloth.

Mirrors are completely streak free and clean with ease... use a wet enviro followed by a dry polish cloth or simply spray with water and polish. Here is a demo showing how easily even gooey butter can be cleaned with this two cloth combination.

I have to say that after using the polish cloth to clean my bathroom mirrors for a few weeks, I decided to use up what window cleaner I had in the house. I got halfway through cleaning one mirror and threw the awesome cleaner I used to love into the trash and ran for my enviro and polish cloth. It is SO MUCH EASIER with much better results! I hadn't realized that the cleaner had actually been putting a sort of "film" on my mirrors until I had not been using it for a few weeks.

Also, the enviro cloth and polish cloth make perfect mess free stainless steel cleaners. No residue left behind and beautiful shine every time. Love my polish cloth.

How to Care for your Microfiber

For those of you that may be thinking, "Oh, I will use these cloths AND my cleaners and I will be SUPER clean!" Let me correct that thought.  Soaps will inhibit the silver from taking action to the bacteria in the cloth and therefore you will lose it's power to kill what you just picked up.  Chemical cleaners can also destroy the fibers and cause them to break down.  Norwex cleaners may be used with the cloths but even then it is not recommended to use them on a regular basis.  They recommend that you use the cloths without the silver if you are going to use a cleaner.  There are a number of options there.  My favorite? The BATHROOM MITT!  See the next post for more info on that one.

As for cleaning the cloths. Here are the manufacturer's stated directions:

To save the environment and reduce the use of detergents, we suggest that slightly
dirty cloths and mops be washed, with a little Norwex Dishwashing Liquid, under warm
running water and used again before laundering.
• Launder microfiber cloths with other lint-free laundry.
• Only use Norwex Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent or another environmentally friendly detergent without fillers and bleach.
• Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or dryer sheets as these products reduce the microfibers ability to clean effectively.
• Do not use on anti-glare coated surfaces.

I feel any dishwashing liquid should be fine.  Just be SURE to rinse, rinse, rinse!  Some dish liquids add chemicals to make lots and lots of suds.  The advantage to the Norwex Dishwashing liquid is that it is superb at getting out stains in clothing as well. Bonus!

Generally, any recommended laundry detergent for cloth diapers is okay for Norwex.  The problem may arise in the cost for these.  The cost for the Norwex detergent is anywhere from $0.04 per load for front load machines and soft water to $0.23 per load for top load machines and hard water. Generally, the retail price for other detergents similar to the Norwex brand without fillers, bleach or softeners is $0.30 to $0.70 per load.

I now give 8 tablespoons of Norwex Ultra Power Plus (UPP) Laundry Detergent to any new customer order.  I want you to be able to feel like you are cleaning the cloths as they were intended when you are trying them out.

Bathroom Cleaners

Remember how I hated to clean tubs and showers?  Well, with the Bathroom Mitt and Blue Diamond I don't dread it anymore. Nor do I feel the need to be stripped down and in the shower to get it clean.  If you have hard water or a husband that loves soap bubbles like mine, you will need some diluted Blue Diamond and a bathroom mitt. Spray on, soak for a minute, wipe and rinse.  No elbow grease.  Promise.  If you have an extreme build up, then I recommend the Descaler.

The Bathroom Scrub Mitt is actually comfortable on your hand and makes a great tool for cleaning those bathroom floors quickly too.

This demo shows the power of this cleaner - without FUMES.  My kids actually grabbed my spray bottle of blue diamond mistakenly thinking it was water and dumped it into their bath! They didn't smell and their sensitive skin wasn't even bothered.

This is a general starting cleaning routine with the Blue Diamond.

1. Squirt Blue Diamond up under the rim of your toilet bowl. Use your toilet brush to spread it around and scrub your toilet clean.
2. Use the pink Bathroom Mitt to clean large flat surfaces in seconds! The scrubby side takes care of soap scum quickly and easily with JUST WATER!
3. If you have hard water and need to descale use the Blue Diamond full strength on glass shower doors. For porcelain use is diluted 1 part blue diamond and 9 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray on and wipe off with a damp Enviro Cloth or the Bathroom Mitt.
4. If you have soft water the Bathroom Mitt or Enviro Cloth with water will be all you need to get EVERYTHING in your bathroom sparkling clean! I love how shiny my faucets get with just an Enviro Cloth and water! You know when it's clean when the cloth glides over it effortlessly. If there is any dirt on the surface you feel the microfiber grabbing it.
5. Wipe the outside of your toilet with the Enviro Coth.

After your bathrooms are clean, generally you can just wipe them with the Enviro Cloth on a regular basis and you won't need the Blue Diamond or Descaler for a while.

You can get started with the Bathroom Blitz Collection which contains the Enviro Cloth, Polish Cloth, Bathroom Mitt and Blue Diamond.

A New Way to Clean Floors

Ah yes, the ever daunting task of cleaning endless wood floors and tile bathrooms.  As I said previously, I used my steam mop, but it was still time consuming and I felt I was still just pushing the dirt around even though it would sanitize it through heat. I could feel it on my bare feet.  I splurged on the Superior Mop System and have never looked back.  The telescopic handle is so great because I hate bending down at all since I have a bad back.  The superior mop pad works much like the Enviro Cloth.  In fact, I had been getting down on all fours to clean my floors with the Enviro Cloth before I bought this because I KNEW they were clean then and I could feel it on my bare padded feet. (I rarely wear shoes in my house, or socks for that matter...)

I have very rough tiles in the bathrooms - they are beautiful but all that texture is hard to clean.  I steam cleaned them on a Saturday.  On Tuesday I got the Tile Mop Pad and cleaned them again.  There was a huge difference in the way they looked and felt after cleaning with the Norwex Tile Mop Pad.

I have dry mopped my kitchen floors nearly every day since getting the Superior Mop.  It takes me less than five minutes.  It is easy and enjoyable - much more than sweeping it and I am picking up more and improving the shine of the wood.  I am so glad I splurged on this item.  Because it is easier to do, I am more willing to do it. I even wet mop the wood floor (after wringing out the pad very well because you do not want water sitting on your wood).  I can't believe how easy it is.

Previously, I used Bona Floor cleaner and started noticing it was dulling in certain spots on the floor.  It also took me FOREVER so I wouldn't do it. If I know it is going to take 15 minutes or longer with lots of work, I just don't feel like doing it.  I used swiffers. I used real mops.  I have used everything and anything because I HATED CLEANING FLOORS. I loved how clean they would get when I would do it the old fashioned way on my hands and knees, but I just didn't have the time for that on a regular basis (or the energy).  I feel like this mop system is such a blessing - allowing me to have clean floors with little effort.  Though I am sure you will find me on my knees cleaning them every once in a while...

Oh yes, and the mop pads have a two year guarantee just like the Enviro Cloths. :-)

More Wonderful Products

Here is a list of other items I absolutely love and feel I cannot live without now.  More details regarding these items coming soon!

The Dusting Mitt is definitely a must have item. I didn't think so at first because I had another dusting mitt that seemed to work just fine.  However after slipping this one on and seeing how I could dust my blinds without particles going everywhere, I was SOLD!  I love how soft it is on your hands too.  Doesn't feel like work walking around the house wiping dust and fingerprints away effortlessly without cleaners to strip the finish off your wood.  This does a great job of cleaning my glass end tables too.

Dish Cloth.  This is the recommended cloth to hand wash your dishes.  I don't really do that a lot but I was impressed that it easily removed baked on oil from my skillet!  But what I love most about this cloth is how awesome it is at cleaning up flour or sand and since it is basically a stiff net, it all just washes away with ease. I hate clogging my cloths with flour and they get so sticky and gooey.  For any bakers out there, this is a  MUST HAVE item.

Kitchen Cloths and Towels.  They are anti-bacterial like the envirocloth just in a smaller size and without so much thickness so they dry quicker.  That's great since you are always wiping things up in the kitchen.
The Magnet Ball.  This gem allows you to use half the amount of dishwasher soap as it softens the water.

Make-up Remover or Face Cloths.  These are made out of microfiber suede.  It is super soft and gently on your skin. I love these for my eye make up since it can take off even my waterproof mascara with ease, without rubbing, without grease and without cottony flyaways around my eyes.  These are especially great for cleaning babies and toddler faces after eating.  I always hated how the baby washcloths would smell so quickly and that paper towels or napkins were so rough.  These solve both those problems since these are anti-bacterial too.

The body towel.  Super absorbant, soft yet exfoliating and doesnt take much room in your washing machine!  They also have an extra large size which I would recommend if you like to wrap the towel around your body.

The hand towel.  I love this after washing my face and I keep them in the kids bathroom as well.  It seems kids bathrooms always have smelly towels.  No more!

The body cloth.  This is the Norwex version of a washcloth.  However these have silver in them as well so you don't want to use them with soap.  What?  Yep.  If you must use soap, rinse it first, then use these to exfoliate and sanitize your body.  I have always had back breakouts.  Those have stopped since using this product! I couldn't be happier.  Not to mention it works just as well if not better than my pumice stone on my feet.  Can you tell I love Norwex?

Micro Cleaning Hand Pads. These are similar to the white sponges you see by other companies.  Except these won't burn your hands.  The other pads have been known to cause chemical burns, especially on children.  These are so effective at getting out crayon, pen, marker, etc. on walls and doors. Just to name one thing it does well.

Cleaning Paste is made of marble and is excellent for those with glass cooktops to remove burn marks and hard water stains.  It will remove stains from laminate counter tops as well.  Among other things...

Fridge So Fresh.  A crystal agent to remove all smells from your fridge.  I keep lots of Kale and broccoli in my fridge.  These are highly potent veggies.  I no longer have a scent of them when I open the door.  Thank you Norwex.

There are numerous items I haven't even tried yet and some I have I just haven't gotten to listing yet.  Please refer to the catalog links at the right. Email me with questions or orders.
